Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Training Courses
For many years the road haulage and distribution sector has been training drivers how to drive defensively, avoid collisions and use less fuel during their day to day work. With the rise in LCV’s on our roads, the RHA has developed a range of training courses to help you improve your LCV drivers’ skills or upgrade them to meet the requirements for towing trailers.
LCV Defensive Driving Course
Aimed at those drivers who have responsibility for the safe operation of your delivery vans, works vans, 4 X 4 fleet or any other vehicle falling into the LCV category. Drivers will learn a range of skills aimed at improving fuel economy, reduce the chance of collision and improve your company Operational Road Risk Strategy. Courses are delivered in three ranges to meet the needs of each driver and are carried out on a two to one training ratio. All courses start with an initial assessment of the learner’s present skills and move on to cover the following elements:
• Pre use checks and on road compliance
• Space management
• Correct use of gears, brakes
• Anticipation and forward thinking
• Fuel economy
• The cost of a minor collision
• Road safety awareness
