Aims:

The aim of this course is to consolidate and build on the drivers existing knowledge and skills. This course will provide updates relative to the role of the driver within the environment of a transport company and the impact of non- compliance. For drivers who hold a Certificate of Professional Competence in Passenger Transport it will act as Continuous Professional Development for both roles. It will give the delegate some background knowledge as to the reasons behind work processes and procedures within a Transport Company.

 

Objectives:

To know the economic environment of the carriage of passengers by road and the organisation of the market:  

On completion of this course delegates will be aware of changes to the licencing system, the commitments given by the Transport Manager and operator and how the role of the driver can impact on these commitments.

 

To know the social environment of road transport and the rules governing it.

Delegates will gain an understanding of the principles and application of the regulations relevant to:

·       Drivers qualification and periodic training

·       Compliance with Drivers hours and working time regulations

·       Tachograph regulation

On completion of this section delegates will be aware of their responsibilities and the overall commitment given to the Traffic Commissioner or Transport Regulator by the Operator and Transport Manager.

This is the second day of a two-day programme designed to expand on the drivers existing knowledge and skills. This course will provide updates relative to the role of the driver within the environment of a transport company so that the level of awareness of the importance of processes and procedures are raised.

 

The objectives of this course are to make the driver aware of the risks involved in the transport sector and enable the driver to assess emergency situations, in particular Road traffic events. On completion of this course the delegate should be aware of the regulations relating to the carriage of passengers and be able to adopt behaviour to prevent criminality and to ensure the safety and roadworthiness of the vehicle.  

 

Objectives:

Objective: to make drivers aware of the risks of the road and of accidents at work

Objective: ability to adopt behaviour to help enhance the image of the company: vehicle maintenance

 Objective: to know the regulations governing the carriage of passengers: carriage of specific groups of passengers, safety equipment on board buses, safety belts, vehicle load

Objective: ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants: general information, implications for drivers, preventive measures, check list, legislation on transport operator liability

Objective: ability to assess emergency situations:
